Action in the second week of the Nile Special rugby league action kicked off on Friday as Ezee Money Rhinos narrowly edged Mutoni Warriors at Legends grounds, 22-20.
A few minutes into the first half, Rhinos proved superior as they took the lead from a corner post try by Tadeus K. A couple of minutes later, another try by open flank Abel Ssozi increased Rhino’s 5 point lead to 14 accompanied by good conversions from Byron Atubikire.
Progressing into the final first half minutes of the game, Mutoni Warriors’ defense continued to look too vulnerable, failing to take down Robinson Mumbwa as he crossed the tryline extending Rhino’s lead to 19-0 into halftime.
Despite Rhinos creating a big margin, the second half was a breath of fresh air for Warrior fans as their team came back to life. A try by center Anthony Semusu followed by Owen Kinyera’s penalty buoyed up their hopes of gaining something from the game. Try flank Isaac Kimera finally raised the crowd to their feet having made a try that pushed Mutoni warriors closer at 17 points.
Rhinos finally lost their lead when Warriors’ Owen Kinyera again, converted a 30 meter penalty to make it Mutoni Warriors 20 Rhinos 19. What a comeback it was! However, this was not the end for Rhinos. Byron Atubikire who was later crowned man of the match finished it off for Rhinos with a penalty that decided Warriors double ill fate this season. Final Score: Mutoni Warriors 20-22 Ezee Money Rhinos.
