Entebbe golfer Willy Deus Kitata and Jinja based professional Saidi Mawa, won the three day 8th edition Kakira Open Golf Championship at the par 72 Jinja club.

A flawless round six over par 77 and the same on day three of action to end with a 154 gross to reclaim the tournament. Day one leader Ronald “Rasta” Bukenya collapsed on the final day with a score of nine over par 80 to end with 157 gross.

Entebbe’s artisan golfer and national player Robert Oluba was runner up with scores of 77 and 80 with a total gross score of 157 to win on count back.

“It feels good to come back here and win again,” Kitata said. “I didn’t have a good beginning, but improved on the final day I like this course and maybe that is why I am lucky.”

Men’s group A was won by Abraham Ainemani, with 135 nett while Group B was won by Jeroma Matwa with 139 nett.

Group C was claimed by Silver Damulira with 137 nett. The ladies group A winner was Entebbe based Irene Nakalembe with 145 nett While Ladies Group B winner was Prossy Zawadde.

Jinja’s Saidi Mawa beat 15 professionals to win the professionals section with 140 gross. The three day tournament attracted 150 golfers from various clubs in the country. Madhvani Group sunk 50 million into the annual tournament.
