Former IBF junior middleweight world champion Kassim “The Dream” Ouma returned to the ring after a two year hiatus with a unanimous decision win over Rahman Mustafa Yusibov at the EconoLodge Conference Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
The California based Ugandan based fighter showed alot of rust during his 6 round non-title contest winning the fight with scores of 59-55 on all the three judges cards.
It was Ouma’s first fight since losing a World Boxing Association middleweight title fight against Kazan fighter Gennady Golovkin, who knocked him out in the tenth round in 2011 in Panama City, Panama.
Doctors advised him to take a break from the sport after suffered shock effects to his brain.
In the first two rounds the former champion Ouma was working great from the outside but would be hit occasionally by Yusubov when he allowed him to get in the inside.
Ouma showed speed and accuracy from the past his ability to avoid a punch seemed to slow down his opponent according to boxingscene.com
Yusubov was also not the quickest puncher which raises concerns for the future about Ouma’s defense. Though offensively Ouma looked great with his speed, accuracy, and combinations and the judges agreed.
Ouma improves his record and now has 28 wins 8 loses 1 draw and 17 within the distance while Yusubov dropped to 9 wins 13 loses and 7 within the distance.
