Uganda will play Kenya in the semifinals of the ongoing CECAFA U17 Women’s Championship in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The Teen Cranes, who have been excellent this far, won all their group games to top Pool A on nine points. On the other hand, Kenya finished second in Group B with seven points.
There was a bit of concern after Kenya, who had won 16-0 against Sudan, saw their victory repealed and declared as an abandoned game.
“Although Kenya was leading 16-0 against Sudan and the match was abandoned after 56 minutes, the CECAFA organising committee, after consultation with CAF, declared Kenya the winner by 3 points and 3 goals,” reads a statement from CECAFA.
Kenya had won 6-0 against Somalia and drawn 1-1 with hosts Tanzania. The latter also ended with seven points but were considered group leaders on goal difference.
In the semifinals slated for Sunday, Uganda will face Kenya, while Tanzania will play against South Sudan.
