Nile Special Rugby Premiership:
G4S Pirates 26:13 Toyota Buffaloes
Eric Butime produced a man of the match performance as G4S Pirates overcame a hard fighting Toyota Buffalo side in a rare Friday Nile Special Rugby Premier League match played before a partisan crowd at the Legends Rugby Club grounds in Kampala.
In an ill tempered match that saw Eric Kasita thrown to the sin bin, Saul Kivumi and Ivan Wavamunno were sent for early showers following dangerous and unsporting malicious play.
Pirates, the home side, well aware that a defeat would have sent clear signals of relegation echoes as pirates face Buffaloes staged one of their season’s best displays in the famous black and white colours as Kevin Macmot’s early well converted penalty put them in the lead in the early stages of the game.
“We surely deserved victory and thanks to the entire team, its victory hard fought”, the burly Butime remarked at the customary man of the match speech occasion.
Phiilp Pariyo’s well converted kicks yielded dividends for Buffaloes but were only resourceful to narrow the widening gap.
Eric Butime’s try and Kevin Macmot ‘s successful conversion made it 10 – 3 in favour of the home team before Eric Kasita narrowed it to 10 – 8 with a try.
Wild tackles and malicious play might have been another side menu to the already charged Buffaloes players and like a true wild buffalo in the bushes as she committed serious dangerous tackles that were ruled unsporting by the day’s man in charge.
The end result did not have any impact on the final table standings as both teams remained in their respective positions with the Buffaloes seated in the 3rd place on 32 points (same as Heathens) while the Pirates only improved to 8 points but are still glued 7th on the eight team log.
To the partisan Rugby faithful that graced the Legends, it was an evening well spent but this only acted to be a curtain raiser, as Saturday will present 3 fixtures, two at Legends and one across the road at the Kyadondo Rugby grounds as Home Side MTN Heathens tackles Mutoni Warriors.

Ezee Money Rhinos V Mongers (Legends, 4:30pm)
