El Merrickh Vs KCCA FC – Omdurman
KCC FC will be without midfielder Steven Bengo for the Orange CAF Champions League preliminary round first leg clash against El Merrickh of Sudan while striker Tony Odur is doubtful.
Bengo limped out of training on Monday but Coach George Nsimbe named him on the squad that traveled to Sudan on Wednesday with hope that he may recover in time but information from Khartoum indicates he won’t make it.
For Tony Odur, he is suffering a toothache and sat out Thursday’s morning training session at the Khartoum national stadium.
“The team has finished its first session training in Khartoum national stadium. Steven Bengo is ruled out completely while Odur is doubtful with a toothache,” club vice chairman Allan Ssewanyana told Kawowo Sports from the team’s base at Grand Holiday Villa, Khartoum where the team is accommodated.
Bengo’s absence leaves the Lugogo based side’s creative burden with Uganda Cranes midfielder Brian Majwega and Micheal Birungi.
In case Odur fails to recover in time, Herman Wasswa and William Wadri are expected to lead the hunt for goals.
The two sides met during KCC’s last continental appearance in 2009 with El-Merreikh progressing to the lucrative quarter-final group stage after a 2-1 aggregate win.
