G4S Pirates fly half Ivan Magomu has revealed that he will not get involved in any more competitive rugby after the end of this 2013/2014 rugby season on Saturday.
The Namilyango old boy, now in his s.6 vacation shared the unwelcome news on his facebook wall, attracting emotion-filled reaction.
“I would sadly like to inform the rugby fraternity, my beloved fans, friends, teammates that I will be hanging up my boots at the end of the season due this Saturday, citing family intervention and personal issues,” the post read.
Over 40 comments from fans and friends appreciating Magomu’s efforts trickled in thereafter including one from Desmond Elijah Kakande that read: “the brilliance you exposed, the greatness you assumed and the crown your talent has achieved, no one surpasses you bro.”
Magomu who has also featured on the U19 Rugby Cranes team, heads for his last match this Saturday, against Sadolin Mongers in Entebbe having spurred his team G4S Pirates, to several victories this season.
Most significant was during the first round of this 2013/2014 rugby season, an encounter at legends Rugby grounds that saw Pirates thrash Mutoni Warriors 21-08.Ivan was crowned man of the match, playing key role in that victory.
Down the memory lane, Ivan Magomu is still remembered for his efforts that led Namilyango College past St.Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK) in the U19 rugby schools competitions last year (15-12), scoring the last try that pushed them to finals they lost, against Hana mixed.
