Action in the 2014 Kenya Premier League returns this weekend with eight matches on card at various venues. With four games apiece on Saturday and Sunday, Kawowo Sports’ Ismael previews the games with emphasis on those that will have Uganda’s exports feature.

Saturday fixtures:

KRA Vs KCB – Nyayo stadium

Ex-Maroons defender cum midfielder Ivan Anguyo is expected to start for newly promoted KRA against KCB in the early kick off on Saturday.

The gangly Ugandan who joined the side early this year from champions Gor Mahia will aim at ensuring he puts up a decent performance if his side is to pick its first point (s) of the season after losing 2-0 to Bandari in their opener last weekend.

KCB who held AFC Leopards in their first game also have Ugandan David Bogere in their team and he is expected to feature against KRA.

CHEMELIL SUGAR Vs MUHORONI YOUTH – Chemili

After holding army side Ulinzi Stars 1-1in their opener, David Nyanzi’s Chemelil will be out snatch their first victory of the campaign against Muhoroni Youth. 

Muhoroni lost their opener 5-1 to Sam Timbe’s coached Sofapaka FC.

TOP FRY ALLSTARS Vs THIKA UNITED – Afraha

Joseph Kizito and Allan Katerega’s Top Fry Allstars host Thika United at Afraha searching for their maiden league victory in topflight after losing 0-3 to Sony Sugars on day one.

John Kamau’s Thika United which has four Ugandans; Hamza Muwonge, Daniel Ojara, Tony Kizito and Samuel Mwanje will not be easy nut to crack after holding much fancied Tusker FC to a 1-1 draw on match day one.

Muwonge is expected to maintain his position in goal with Tony Kizito also expected to start at the heart of midfield. Ojara and Mwanje who missed the game against Tusker may be drafted into the squad this time round.

TUSKER FC Vs WESTERN STIMA – Nyayo

Francis Kimanzi’s Tusker FC hosts Western Stima at Nyayo stadium looking for their first campaign victory. The Brewers drew one all with Thika in their opener and face a Western Stima side buoyed by their victory over Mathare United on day one.

Ugandans Aucho Khalid and Martin Kizza are expected to feature for Tusker FC while the game may come too early for compatriot Robert Omunuk who is nursing an injury. Shafik Batambuze; son to SC Villa legend Iddi Batambuze plies his trade at Western Stima. 

Sunday Fixtures:

SOFAPAKA FC Vs SONY SUGARS – Machakos

It will be a battle for top spot when table leaders Sofapaka coached by ex-SC Villa and Police FC tactician Sam Timbe hosts second placed Sugar Sugars in the first KPL game at Machakos. 

Sofapaka which is home to Ugandans Johnson Bagoole and Mustafa Kasolo beat Muhoroni 5-1 in their opener while Sony Sugars beat Top Fry Allstars 3-0.

Muhoroni is home to Ugandan defender Hamidu Kwizera. 

NAIROBI CITY STARS Vs BANDARI – Hope Centre

Ugandan striker Bruno Sserunkuma will turn his guns to former side Nairobi City Stars when his new club Bandari pays a courtesy visit to Hope Centre on Sunday.

Sserunkuma whose side beat KRA 2-0 in the opener will look t inflict more agony on City Stars who lost 0-2 to reigning champions Gor Mahia on Thursday. Ex-AFC Leopards striker Jimmy Bageya is expected to return to the starting lineup after missing the opener. Former SC Victoria University trio of George Abege, Joseph Kayiira and Lawrence Kasadha ply their trade at City Stars and are expected to play a part in Sunday’s game.

AFC LEOPARDS Vs ULINZI STARS – Nyayo

Musa Mudde’s AFC Leopards who drew 1-1 with KCB in their opener hosts Ulinzi Stars at Nyayo stadium. 

MATHARE UNITED Vs GOR MAHIA FC – Machakos

In the second of the two games at Machakos, Hussein Zzinda’s Mathare United hosts Gor Mahia FC searching for their first point (s) of the 2014 campaign after suffering a loss in their opener. 

It won’t however be easy against a Bobby William side that beat Nairobi City Stars 2-0 on Thursday thanks to Daniel Sserunkuma and Geoffrey Baba Kizito strikes. The duo is expected once against to start alongside compatriot Godfrey Walusimbi against Mathare.
