Prior the first National Moto Cross championships held on Sunday at Busiika, rider Maxim Van Pee had promised to halt the MX 1 class dominance by Arthur Blick.

True to his word, Van Pee, who has been away for long since departing for Europe, where he is pursuing education never disappointed. He accumulated 60 points over the three rounds of action held.

Bar the top class performance, Van Pee never too thrilled the mammoth crowd that attended the championships with sharp turns and breathe taking skills on the bike.

“I have been active with Moto cross in Holland and Germany, where i have been training on Sand. I just perfected what i have been training. Am so glad for the fans that have loved this sport my fellow competitors for the healthy competition”, he said after the day long competition.

Maxim will be returning to Europe on Monday, but will be back in the country well in time for the second championships to be held at Garuga.

Fortune Ssentamu was another eye catching performer in the CC 65 category accumulating 60 points out of the three rounds. He even managed to graduate to the much competitive and powerful CC 85 category where the 10 year old  finished 5th with 39 points.

“I believe i will copy up with the boys in the 85 C.C category. It was joy racing with them and chasing the pack with pace”, the 2012 USPA Moto Cross Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) player told kawowo sports.

The first national moto cross championship was organized by Speed way moto club in partnership with UAP Insurance, Mountain Dew, Rwenzori Mineral Water, Safe Solutions, Total Uganda Limited and International Hospital Kampala (IHK).

The next event will take place in early April at the Garuga race track.
