Kinaawa’s win ended Trust High School’s dominance at the Gayaza High School Ground, were they had gone two years without losing a game

GAYAZA. It is a long season for the volleyball playing schools, but Kinaawa Mugongo proved that they are up to the task after they won their second edition of the Joan Cox tournament. Kinaawa got even when they defeated Trust High School 2-1 2-0 (25-15, 25-17) in the final. Trust had defeated Kinaawa to win the inaugural title last year.

Kinaawa Mugongo saw off Nabisunsa Kittens 2-0 (25-10, 25-11) at the round of 16 to set a quarterfinal date with Our Lady good Council 2-0(25-17, 25-7). While Trust High School defeated Gayaza High B side   2-0(25-11, 25-11) at the round of sixteen before seeing Club 61 2-1(21-25, 25-23, 25-13) in the quarters

The two sides tussled to make it to the final after Trust High School defeated Namugongo 2-1 ( 23-25, 25-9, 30-28), Kinaawa struggled past Mary Hill Yahweh 1-2(21-25, 25-17 and 25-20).  Mary hill Yahweh later defeated Namugongo Vocational 2-0 (25-15, 25-17) for the third place playoff.

Best Attacker-Tracy Kulume (Trust High School)
