KAMPALA. Ndejje Elites played at one open tournament (Makerere Open) in which they faltered losing to Vision Volleyball Camp (VVC) in both the preliminaries and the final in similar fashion, straight sets. The two time league winners didn’t bother to make an appearance at the Joan Cox Memorial tournament, though they will surely be on hand to defend their own Ndejje Open this weekend in Luwero.
And Ndejje Elites coach Johnson Kawenyera has decided to go philosophical for kawowo.com. “A good team is not judged only buy winning but how they get up after a fall,” Kawenyera said.
In Makerere, Ndejje struggled with their cover, reception and net defense but also lacked the lethal power in the middle that has always won them title. The side will also be boosted by the return of their senior players Saidat Nnungi, Christine Alupo and Maureen Mwamula who are back from national duty.
“We have managed to correct the errors we made against the KCCA and VVC in Makerere, the team is still good even without those on national duty,” Kawenyera added. Ndejje will face stiff competition from VVC who have won the last two open title, but also Nkumba who have always been threats to the title Ndejje have won, and victors to those the latter have faltered at.
