KAMPALA. Uganda Volleyball Kobs head coach Adam Sematiko believes he has a strong team to compete and qualify for the Africa Nations once the zonal qualifiers start from March 3-10. “I believe I have chosen the best players,” sematiko told uvbf.org “They are all young, vibrant players who are eager to learn but to also showcase their talents,” he added

The team that will be lead by Sport-S power attacker Ivan Ongom will play against Kenya, Burundi and Tanzania to see who advances to the final qualifying stage. John Aisu and Emmanuel Elanyu are the setters though the latter made the cut as a utility player.

Rajab Kimera, Mustahper Mulondo, Fred Masadu, Nicholas Esegu are the centre blockers. David Okello, Cuthberth Malinga, Mark Okurut and John Opejo are the outside hitters with Stephen Oguti the Libero.

Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) is using the games as a way of laying structures to feed the senior national team. “We want a strong national team,” UVF technical director Tony Lakony, said early this week.

“That means having youth teams that compete every now and then. We are going to pay attention to all age categories from the U17s through the U23s for that to happen,” he added.
