In what remains a mystery of events, Kick boxer, Ronald Mugula who was over 10 kilograms less than Moses Golola a month ago, is now the heavier lad prior the upcoming light middle weight event scheduled for Freedom city along Entebbe road on Friday.
At a special weigh in event for the two prized boxers held on Thursday at the bout venue, over 100 fans witnessed the brief, comical and thrilling ceremony. Mugula came into the arena first and waited for close to half an hour before Moses Golola paved way.
Mugula ironically weighed in 72.5 kg while Golola weighed in 72.3 kg. “We now declare the fight officially sanctioned after both fighters are within the same weight catergory”, Sam Ggombya, Secretary general of Uganda Kickboxing Federation remarked after the weigh in.
The President of the federation, Hassan Ssekirime had taken through both boxers through the rules that would govern the K-1 style of kick boxing expected.
“We expect you to know the rules. No one should elbow, kick below the belt, should hold an opponent for close to a minute, we do not allow intention falling”, Hassan Ssekirime said.
In his expected vibe, Moses Golola warned his opponent about bragging. “I know he is a good fighter, I respect him for that, but he should never take me for granted. I have trained with Mando (Boxer Zebra Ssenyange) and he has fine tuned me. I will beat Mugula and he will forget his date of birth. I will even take his wife like i have always promised. I am the king of the Zig Zag fight because i am a Zig zag fighter”, Golola remarked as media people fought for space to catch the flamboyant fighter.
On his part, Mugula, who sounded calm, applauded the sponsors and media for the great work to promote the fight, but also promised to discipline Golola.
“How can some one who does not know how to fist up, promise to beat me?”, Mugula wondered.
Mugula’s last fight was against Egyptian tennager, Hassem Hussein on January 1st 2014 that the Ugandan lost, while Moses Golola’s fight was against Romanian Zoltan Poczo.
The Golola – Poczo fight ended in a controversy that judges ruled in the Ugandan’s favour but onlookers who witnessed the fight that took place at Natete shopping mall had a pre – jugdement decision embedded at the death of their minds favouring the Romanian who rained blows onto Golola’s face all night long.
Several Undercard fights have been lined up to spice up the evening. Gates open by 6 pm. Miss not.
