Rugby Lady Cranes will depart for Nairobi, Kenya this Sunday 6th April, ahead of the Confederation of Africa Rugby Sevens tournament due 12th April.

The team will be hosted at Brookhouse school in Nairobi, before spending 7th to 11th April in training camp.

The ladies have been enduring intensive drills with Kyadondo based male rugby players and coach Anthony Kinene is confident that they will get results needed.

“I am confident about the team am taking to represent the nation. It’s been up and down but finally we’ve come up with a team of 12 to represent the nation, so am very hopeful we shall get the result we need.”

This year’s edition is a one day tournament involving 8 teams split into 2 pools, A and B, both comprising 4 teams each. Lady Cranes are in pool B, alongside Tunisia, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Pool A comprises South Africa, Kenya, Senegal and Madagascar.

Kenya were awarded the rights to host this IRB-sanctioned tournament two months ago, following Morocco’s withdrawal due to logistical challenges.
