5th Ndejje Woodball Open:
Open Winners: Ndejje A
Primary: Happy Hours, Bombo
Secondary: Kyambogo College (Boys) and Kings College Buddo (Girls)
Ndejje University A side had the best and last smile during the 5th edition of the annual Ndejje University woodball open held in Luwero over the weekend. Ndejje University A side owes the team’s splendid performance to 2014 USPA female player of the year, Lillian Zawedde (95 strokes) and Brunno Bbosa (62 strokes) for the clean sweep.
The home team won both the men and women accolades to take all the bragging rights, beating off a stiff competitition from Universities (Busoga University, Uganda Christian University, Busitema University, Multitech Business School, Muteesa I Royal University, Nkumba University), Clubs (Botladz Woodball Club, Entebbe Woodball Club and Ndejje Woodball Club).
King College Buddo Ladies took the Secondary Schools’ girls’ top prize with Ruth Rebbecca Mirembe returning a personal best of 25 strokes while Kyambogo College School were the men’s victors. Samuel Mubboti too had the best mark of 25 strokes.
Happy Hours school, Bombo inspired by an individual best score of Steven Ssewanga (24 strokes) won the boys’ category while Bombo Barracks took the girls’ event.
An official statement released by the Uganda Woodball Federation stressed the purpose of the tourney was to assess players for suitable of national duty. “We are assessing players for Team Uganda selection as well as those juniors for the upcoming 5th ICPAU Juniors Woodball Championship for the primary and secondary schools”, UWbF official statement says.
