Entebbe golfer Peter Ssendaula, swept the field at the Orange/Mehta Open golf championship at the par 70 Mehta Golf Club in Lugazi on Sunday to claim his second win of this prestigious Uganda Golf Union event.
Ssendaula, who missed the cut to join the national golf team in South Africa, redeem himself by returning to the club house with a score of 144 gross to claim the overall prize that saw a total of 96 players that also included students from Lugazi.
“It feels great to come here here and win once again this is the second time am winning here and now this course is like my second home,” Ssendaula said after his win. “The course was prefect and my game was flowing I hope this win can inspire get back into the national team.”
For the first time students Lugazi East Primary school, Lugazi West primary school and Mehta senior secondary school took part the Uganda Golf Union event a total of 10 students took part with Godfrey Nsubuga scoring impressive results on the 15 hole course returning with 109 nett.
Top lady golfer Flavia Namakula, continued with her good form by claiming the gross winner’s crown for the ladies section with 160 gross while Lugazi’s Betty Alikyogera was winner Group A with 146 nett.
