Dickens Otim is upbeat ahead of his NSSF Volleyball League debut with Sport-S when the four-time winners open their campaign against joint holders KAVC this Saturday in Lugogo. Otim spent seven years at Nkumba Navy guiding the Entebbe based side to one league title (2011) in two finals.

At Sport-S the 26 year old has a chance of hitting two birds with one stone, win his second league medal but also Sport-S’ fifth record title. “All the teams in the league are strong, KAVC, Nemostars and we can’t write off Nkumba,” Otim said.

“That makes it a tough race for us, but we have records to set this season and we are going to give our all.” “Being record holders of the national league will be something to celebrate about for a long time,” he added.

Otim brings to Sport-S an all round approach as a volleyball player, from being a good defender, server, receiver, attacker, he is also such a fine blocker. Though his stats from last season were worrying and his didn’t really give much in the pre-season. “Am working on improving my errors because my teammates have a lot of hopes in me,” Otim reckoned.
