At Comprehensive Natete
Pre-boxing press conferences are world over famous for the tension, thrills and drama that they come forth with.
On Sunday, as the middle weight title fight between Police boxing club’s Haruna Diba Banabana and Ongom Kasumali Kizito was being launched, you could not expect nothing less.
The two prized fighters swore to finish each other and the boxing fraternity will eagerly wait for the ring action during the 10 round supper middle national title scheduled for this coming Saturday on May 31 at Comprehensive hotel, Natete,a Kampala City Suburb.
Ongom swore to inflict further pain on Banabana like he stressed the latter’s defeat to Zebra Ssenyange was just another routine defeat in his career.
“That man (Banabana) is wrestler, so this fight presents me the chance to show him how boxing is done”, Ongom remarked at the launch fight held at Theatre La Bonita.
In retaliation, Banabana, like a hungry lion that has taken 3 weeks without any prey to brag about, shot back on top of vocal chords; “I will beat you to early retirement”.
Banabana’s boasts of 3 victories, 4 losses and 2 draws in his professional ranks while a hard talking Ongom has 4 draws and just 2 won (on points).
This fight will also have another light middle title contest as Medi ‘Kabona’ Sebyala challenges title holder Mustapha Katende in a 10 rounds bout.
Sebyala has 9 wins, 8 losses and 1 draw while Katende has won 10 and lost just once.
