Sky Volleyball Club was Uganda’s best male club at last year’s Genocide Memorial Tournament in Kigali. They finished fourth in a tournament that saw Nemostars and Sport-S eliminated at the quarter finals.
Sky ditched out Sport-S while Nemostars lost to eventual winner Inatek. The same teams with KAVC have stormed Kigali again and this weekend the agenda will be trying to better last year’s performance, at least according to Nemostars George Aporu. “Our expectations are to enter the semis, and from there anything can happen,” said captain George Aporu.
“We don’t know how ready other teams are, all that matters is how ready we are and I must say we are set,” he added. Nemostars will be the only side in Rwanda that has played at the Africa Club Championship in Sousse Tunisia. Kenya Prisons and General Service Unit (GSU) represented the region at the Sousse games in Tunisia, but the two have shunned the regional outing.
