Uganda’s top female badminton player Shamim Bangi will not be going for the Commonwealth games in Scotland Glasgow between July 23rd -August 3rd.
“‘Bangi has immigration issues and cannot enter the United Kingdom, it is a tough blow for team Uganda but we have replaced her with Margaret Nankabirwa’, said Simon Mugabi of the Uganda Badminton Association. ‘Nankabirwa has been training with the team going to Glasgow and able to represent her country and was seed one before Bangi last year’. he added.
Bangi whose preparations included the Nigeria International and Mauritius International were she managed semi final and quarter final respectively.
Bangi is ranked fifth on the continent and 177th in the world.
