18th NSSF – KAVC Volleyball International Tourney:

9th & 10th August 2014

Tournament Venues: Lugogo Indoor Stadium, MUBS, Namboole , KIU and Sharing Nsambya

Over 25 local and regional teams are set to take part in this year’s NSSF – KAVC International Volleyball tournament.

The 18th Edition of the NSSF – KAVC International Volleyball tournament has been launched today at the Uganda Olympic Committee head offices in Lugogo.

Foreign clubs have been invited from Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and South Sudan.

These include the men’s defending champions, Inatek from Rwanda and 2 time winners, Kigali Volleyball club among others.

Other men’s clubs are Burundi’s Rukinzo and Muzinga . The Kenyan contingent invited are Prisons , Administration Police and GSU.

The Young and Espoir (M) are from Democratic Republic of Congo while South Sudan’s SPLA PHAM WARRIOUS (South Sudan) and Tanzania’s Jeshi Stars and Prisons are the other invited regional teams.

Women:

Teams from Kenya such as Prisons, GSU, KCB , National Water and Pipeline have been invited while DRC’s The Young and Tanzanian Prisons is the other lady team from the region.

Invited local teams include; Sport –S, KCCA, Nemostars, Gulu, Old Kampala, Sky, COBAP, KAVC A and KAVC B (men) and KCCA, Sport –S, Ndejje University, Nkumba University, KAVC B, VVC and Espoir for the women category.

This year’s edition will run on the theme ‘Championing better community health and behavior through sports’.
“Once again, we are grateful for the main Sponsor, NSSF for the continued support towards running this event”, Dick Muhwezi, a local organizing committee member told the media.

NSSF’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Victor Karamagi revealed to the press about the improved package for this year’s event.

“We have an improved package for this year’s tourney which we shall reveal alongside the other working partners days prior the event”, Karamagi said.

The regional teams are expected to arrive in the country 2 days ahead of the tourney’s technical meeting on the 8th August 2014.
