Elgon Cup 2nd Leg Results

U-19: Kenya 27-12 Uganda (Aggregate 37-27)

Women: Kenya Lionesses 39-10 Uganda Lady Cranes (Aggregate 72-25)

Men: Kenya A 34-0 Uganda Rugby Cranes (Aggregate 48-21)

The Uganda Rugby Cranes suffered a devastating 34-0 loss to Kenya’s A rugby side on Saturday, losing the Elgon Cup honours to their rivals on a 48-21 aggregate at the RFUEA grounds in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Rugby Cranes were in a favourable position to halt Kenya’s attempt of winning the Cup for the second successive year but failed to score any point in the second leg despite securing an early lead in the first leg at Kyadondo.

Cranes defeated the side in the first encounter 21-14 courtesy of Kevin Makmot and Bishop Onen’s brilliance, however, the recent showdown clearly depicted incompetence.

Philip Owuor touched for Kenya 6 minutes into the first half to hand the home side the lead as they had to chase only two more points to level the aggregate score.

After 33 minutes of exchange, Adimo converted Nato Simiyu’s try to increase the point gap that elevated them beyond level for the aggregate.

The hosts maintained a 12-0 advantage into half time with Cranes in need of redemption having gone down with a 5 point debt for a fine shot at glory.

The Kenya A team nevertheless returned even stronger from the break, stunning hapless Cranes side through Godfrey Mbeya’s efforts in the 51st minute, Eden Agero and Jacob Ojee tries for an overwhelming 29-0 score.

Rugby Cranes did not reply with any try or penalty, conceding the last try of the match by Victor Brown. Kenya A were eventually crowned 2014 Champions thanks to their comeback from a first leg seven point lead.
