On paper Ndejje Elites will be one of the favorites going to the NSSF-KAVC International from August 9-10, in reality their form in the open tournaments has been worrying. Seven tournaments played so far Ndejje has only attended four reached two finals but yet to win a title.

Ndejje lost to Vision Volleyball Camp in the finals of the Makerere Open before missing the Joan Cox Memoria, Jinja and KIU Open Tournaments. They managed a semifinal finish in at their own Ndejje Open losing 3-2 to Nkumba and later lost to the latter in the semis of the Dr Aporu Okol Memorial International Championship.

“It is a bit trickier because we have struggled in open tournament,” said Ndejje coach Johnson Kawenyera. “Last year was our best chance to win it but we just froze from the first game,” he added.

In 2013 Ndejje took part in their first NSSF-KAVC International together with Nkumba. They had to watch from the stands as the latter defeated KAVC 3-0 to lift the title.

Then Ndejje failed to even make it out of the group which also had Nkumba and KCCA.”Even our performance in the league this season is not that convincing though we are yet to lose a game,” he added.

“Our roster has so many inexperienced players who can’t really do match to turn the game around once the senior players fail,” added Kawenyera. Ndejje struggled to beat UCU Doves and KAVC in their last two league games, winning both games in a tie breaker.
