Three of South Africa based Ugandans will be in action when their respective clubs take part in the opening fixtures of the 2014/15 ABSA premiership season.

The new season will see Denis Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns play hosts Maritzburg United today at Loftus Versfeld stadium.

Onyango who competes with Belgian Glenn Verbauwhede and Zambian Kennedy Mweene in-goalposts is among the available players for selection when Sundowns starts title defense campaign.

Sundowns and Maritzburg drew 1-1 in a club friendly match played last month.

At the Turks stadium, goal machine Geoffrey Massa is expected to lead the striking line when his Pretoria University team hosts Polokwane City on Saturday evening.

Coach Steve Baker, who denied Massa permission to feature in Uganda’s engagement with Mauritania, is likely to add Malawian forward Nyondo Atusaye on the attacking force in search for goals.

If all goes well, Ugandan Chrizestom Ntambi will also feature for Polokwane City as the former SC Villa player has been linked to be pleasing in trials at the South African side.

Polokwane City will be seeking for their season debut after earning from promotion from the 1st division league.

Elsewhere, Ivan Bukenya’s Kaizer Chiefs will also be in action, playing away to Free State Stars at Charles Mopeli stadium in Phuthaditjhab city on Saturday.

The Ugandan defender, who joined Chefs from Iraqi’s FC Ebil, will be looking for his 31st appearance for the Johannesburg based team. Chiefs and State Stars drew 1-1 in their last meeting.

Elsewhere, in Iceland, loaned Tony Mawejje will feature for Valur FC against Fram FC at Reykjavic stadium on Sunday in one of the Urvalsdeild premiership games.

Mawejje who will be featuring for the third time scored in his debut three weeks ago, despite the fact that Valur lost 1-4 to KR FC. The 27 year old midfielder is a loaned player from Norwegian giants FK Haugesund.

Valur has played 14 games this season and is 5th on the table with 21points, ten points below leaders FH.
