Nemostars will miss the services of utility player Tom Amou when the two sides meet on Saturday in the NSSF Volleyball League, Sport-S will also be without setter Warren Muhangi. Amou is on official duty with Maryhill High School at the East Africa Secondary School Games in Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
On the other hand Sport-S’ Muhangi was suspended indefinitely by Uganda Volleyball Federation on Tuesday even before he could face a disciplinary hearing. “Amou is one of the pillars of my team,” said Nemostar’s setter Smith Okumu.
“But that is the beauty of having depth in your squad, players like Wandera (Steven) will be called in,” he added. Just like Amou, Wandera is a fine receiver, server, attacker and defender.
But he can’t be relied on for net defense. The others Okumu will have to rely on for reception is his captain George Aporu or even David Segulanyi if coach Anthony Ndawula decides to select the latter.
Muhangi’s absence leaves Sport-S with one option in the setting department, Albert Gayi. “Warren’s (Muhangi) experience will be missed,” said Sport-S’ captain Andrew Wandera.
“But Gayi has been our first team setter since the season; we hope to pull through the Saturday (Tomorrow) game with him,” he added. Nemostars registered a 3-2 win against Sport-S in the first round. Women’s defending champions Ndejje Elites take on Nkumba in the Saturday night action
