The Zambia Under 19 Rugby side suffered a 00-15 defeat to Senegal in the Confederation of African Rugby tier 1B competition on Saturday, further getting relegated to a lower 1C tier.

The third place playoff encounter played at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds saw Zambia succumb to a second consecutive loss in Kampala, without scoring any point throughout the match.

Senegal, that lost 23-12 to hosts and current tier champions Uganda, crossed the white chalk once for a first half at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds, courtesy of Abdoul Lahad Diop before scoring another try in the second half, converted by Pompidou Mendy for 12-00 score.

Senegal proceeded with more waves of attack, and as a result of huge pressure on Zambia’s back-line, the side was on the receiving end of the last penalty of the match, successfully guided in by kicker Georges Pompidou Mendy.

Senegal and Madagascar retain slots in tier 1B after both losing one and winning one match each. Relegated Zambia lost both encounters while competition hosts and champions, Uganda emerged victorious twice.
