The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Kenyan officials to handle the Group E clash between Uganda and Togo on 11th October, 2014 that will be played at Mandela National stadium, Namboole.
Davies Ogenche Omweno is the center referee, with Marwa Range and Peter Sabaita the first and second assistant referees referees respectively.
Anthony Ogwayo, also from Kenya will be official at as the fourth official.
The match commissioner, Alfred Rwiza Kishongole will come from Tanzania. All the five officials are expected in the country by Friday morning.
ABOUT OMWENO THE CENTER REFEREE:
Born in Kenya on 20th April 1984, Omweno became a FIFA referee in 2010. He has not dished out any red card in the 18 international games handled but has awarded 3 penalties in his career (2 at home and 1 away). He has so far shown 37 yellow cards, 19 of these at home and 18 away.
Omweno has so far officiated at 18 CAF high profile matches since 2011. He featured in last year’s CAF U-17 championships in Rwanda, African Nations and World Cup qualifiers on top of 3 CECAFA senior Challenge cup in Kenya last year.
He is remembered for having handled the CAF Confederations cup match between Don Bosco and Sports Club Victoria University in Lubumbashi (in February).
He also recently handled the second round CAF 2015 qualifier between Equatorial Guinea and Mauritania which ended 3 – 0 in favour of the hosts before they were disqualified for using an unauthorized player.
