Badminton ace will take part in the singles, women doubles and mixed doubles of the South African International this weekend. The 21-year old Ugandan is coming off a bronze medal in the women doubles of the Zambia International last Saturday after she retired in the semis because of a headache.

Bangi will team up with Zambian Ogar Siamupangila in the doubles just like it was in Zambia, the former won gold in the women’s doubles earlier in Nigeria, then she was teaming with Egyptian Hosny Hadia.

“Playing with other players helps me improve my singles game,” Bangi said in a phone interview before she departed from Zambia to South Africa. “The players am teaming up with consider me a very good teammate and when they asked to play with them I said yes because they also add value to my game,” she added.

Bangi will reunite with Croatian Hlinican Matej for the mixed doubles, they did win gold in October in remarkable fashion, and then they didn’t lose a single set. “His (Matej) experience as a doubles player is very immense. When you are on court with him, you will rarely put a foot wrong,” Bangi said of her mixed doubles partner.
