Sadili Oval scholar John Lutaaya has finally landed enough funds to see him embark on a tennis scholarship in South Carolina,USA for a period of three months.
Lutaaya got a big boost from the Uganda Olympic Committee president William Blick, who offered the budding youngster a ticket valued at $1,000 to enable him travel to Wachesaw Plantation Club in South Carolina,USA plus the other money that he raised from the tennis fraternity in the country. He had earlier raised $900 and topped that up for his trip.
“I am grateful for the offer from the UOC president and the tennis fraternity now I am glad I will be pursuing my scholarship and hope to do well in the United States,” Lutaaya stated. “I believe I will develop my game in the United States and I will use this opportunity to open doors for my career.”
The 17 year old is now set to travel to the USA where he has been invited for a 3 month period where have trials with various coaches as he persues prospects of joining a college in the USA on the strength of his tennis and developing his game farther.
Lutaaya who has been a scholar at the Sadili Oval in Langata, Nairobi will be flying out of the country tomorrow.
He will become the second Ugandan scholar from the same center to fly out too the United States after Henry Ayesiga, who is pursuing the same in California, USA.
