The Uganda National Beach Soccer team, The Sand Cranes played the first ever international match – winning 5 – 4 against The Zanzibar Sand Heroes at the Bububu beach stadium.

The team covered 1649 KM for the journey from Kampala via Nairobi through Dar es Salaam to the Indian Ocean town of Bububu and are expected back on Thursday morning with the total distance reading 3298 KM. The team official mouth piece, Patrick Lugemwa affirmed to Kawowo Sports on Tuesday.

We are about to reach Moshi, the boys are happily traveling and we are all safe but you can not rule out the fatigue.

The Sand Cranes played the first ever international match and this is the beginning of a long trek to success as confirmed to Kawowo Sports by Deo Mutabaazi, Chairman, Uganda Beach Soccer Association.

We held developmental meetings with the Zanzibar F.A on how best to develop beach soccer in the region and we came up with interesting ideas under the 7 points programme. Soon we shall be having the COPA East Africa.
