2014 Liberation Run: On 18th January 2015 – Start/Finish: Kakyeeka Stadium, Mbarara
Olympic Marathon gold medalist, Stephen Kiprotich and Common Wealth gold winner, Moses Kipsiro have confirmed participation at the inaugural Liberation race in set to take place in Mbarara on January 18th 2015.
Both Kiprotich and Kipsiro will take part in the2015 Liberation race met to help raise funds for Mbarara Women Hospital Ward

This was during the official launch of the race at Lubiri Secondary school on Friday.
10 and 21 KM race categories will be on the event menu where close to 2000 participants are expected to take part.
Participants have to register with Ushs 10,000 and each will be given a T-shirt. We expect about 50 districts to take part
Abaho added.
Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) has already sanctioned the event with Uganda Police the other partner.
Proceeds from the Liberation race will help Mbarara Hospital to purchase the endotracheal tube (where newly born babies breath through), Ventilator (respirator), the continuous positive airway pressure and the Oxygen hood
Joan Kugonza, secretary of the youth group elucidated.
The race will be held as part of the national celebrations for Uganda’s 29th year of Liberation.
The Patron of the Liberation Youth Group, Ali Muggaga, also the head master at Lubiri S.S expressed gratitude at the initiative of the youth.
At such a time when the youth think that Government will provide each and every need, these youths (Liberation Youth group) have really challenged me. Let us support the initiative

Registration for the Liberation Race has picked momentum with several regional registration points.
We have regional co-coordinators from all the parts of the country

This will be the first race of its kind in Mbarara.
