Chess Fide Master, Harold Wanyama (2241) lost to Egyptian IM Ali Farahat (2386) in the sixth round of the ongoing Africa Individual Chess Championship in Windhoek, Namibia on Friday.

Suffering his first loss of the campaign, Wanyama now has 4 points out of the possible 7. Wanyama had drawn with  seasoned South African IM Ken Solomon (rated 2380) in the second round after he had edged South African FIDE Master Klaasen Calvin Jong (rated 2180).

He has two draws, 1 loss and three wins and is expected to battle Nigeria’s Chess Master (C.M), Fawole John Oyeyemi (2214).

International Master (IM, Ali Farahat is up against South Africa’s IM Ken Solomon in a game that will have a big bearing on determining the title destiny.

Kenya’s CM Ben Magana beat a higher rated FM Degondo Simplice (2177) in the sixth round

Magana will face Zambian IM Stanley Chumfwa in the seventh round.
