Chess Fide Master (F.M) Harold Wanyama lost his 8th round battle to Egyptian Grand Master (G.M) Adley Ahmed in the Africa Individual Chess Championship in Namibia on Sunday.

After an earlier 7th round victory on Saturday over Nigeria’s Chess Master (C.M) Fawole John Oyeyemi (2214), Wanyama suffered a set back with the loss to the G.M.

“He now has one last chance in the ninth and final round against South African IM Daniel Cawdery (rated 2430)”
An official statement released by the Uganda Chess Federation read.

Targets International Master (I.M) title:
An outright victory for Wanyama against I.M Cawdery will elevate him on 6 points out of 9 and grant him an International Master title based on a 66.6% score.
