Event: 2015 Africa Nations Championship

When: May 15-25

Where: Kenya

Sport-S’ middle blocker Dickens Otim is honored to be retained as the Volleyball National team Captain by new coach Nason Bwesigye. Otim who was first appointed national skipper by Anthony Ndawula in 2013 will again be in charge at the 2015 Africa Nations Championship in Nairobi Kenya on May 12-25 as he told Monitor.

It’s an honor to have worked with coach Ndawula who appointed me Captain but also an honor for coach Nason to retain me as his skipper. He (Bwesigye) is not a new person to me, he is one coach who has also advised me throughout my career, at Nkumba, Sport-S yet he was coaching UCU. A very good coach, understanding, he can listen, he is one you can call a team player

Bwesigye also intimated to the local daily that he needed to build on what his predecessor Ndawula had left behind.

I don’t want to overturn the team; I want to build on what Ndawula had started.

“I think he (Otim) has not done badly, he is a good leader but also experienced,” Bwesigye said. Otim’s second-in-command is also not changed as Nemostars’ skipper George Aporu will deputize him.
