Hima Cement and Heathens Rugby team have sealed a 300 million sponsorship deal that will see the cement manufacturer become the team’s name sponsor.
The sponsorship deal was unveiled yesterday at Kyadondo rugby club by the Hima Cement Country Chief Executive Officer Daniel Pettersson and Heathen’s director David Case together with the club’s head coach Brian Tabaruka at a brief ceremony.
The sponsorship amount includes 140 million for Hima Cement to get the naming rights while the rest will cover the team’s expenses in the next three years. These include ensuring the team is well trained and fully kitted to take part in future matches.
“We are thrilled to extend our long history of involvement in rugby with this great partnership,” Daniel Pettersson said at the ceremony. “We are pleased to make the association with Heathens as the team embodies many values that we at Hima Cement aim to promote especially the team’s powerful successes over the years.”
Uganda’s most successful rugby team will now be called Hima Cement Heathens. “The partnership with Hima Cement will get us more organized and properly funded to be able to take on future endeavors,” Brian Tabaruka, the Heathens head coach said. “For the lat few months we have had some challenges and have been training without proper training kits.”
This sponsorship comes in the wake of tomorrow(Saturday’s) mouthwatering game between Kobs and Hima Cement Heathens at Legends rugby ground with the league leaders seeking to win the Premiership trophy.
