Kobs are at home against rivals Heathens on Saturday in the Nile Special Uganda Rugby Premiership and the Legends Rugby ground showdown is to unfold as a title decider and derby for both sides, their second last encounters of the season.

It’s apparently the worst timing for struggling defending champions Kobs after suffering their third loss of the premiership at Toyota Buffaloes last Saturday.

Kobs who were away from home got edged 23-21 at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds and it was yet another disappointment off their losses against Mongers and Heathens in the first half of the season.

Heathens will walk out the dugout with confidence following their 11-10 win against the weekend hosts having lost only once this season – when they played Ezee Money Rhinos in week 5.

The log leaders had earlier dropped points in a stalemate with Sadolin Mongers but that remained buried in history. They have since not lost any single game in 7 consecutive matches.

They come off a convincing win in their recent outing, a match that saw them crash Ezee Money Rhinos 20-03 and it looked like man of the match Gamma Faisal apparently filled the boots of playmaker Phillip Wokorach, who left the side for a stint with Esher RFC.

Kob’s coach Allan Musoke is expected to bring on a full squad with Scott Oluoch, Kicker James Ijiongat, captain Brian Odong, Brian Asaba while Michael Amolo is automatically sidelined after a red card he got in the outfits loss last Saturday.

Heathens have just got a new sponsor in Hima and this may serve as motivation for Brian Tabaruka’s Micheal Wokorach, Gamma Faisal, Lawrence Ssebuliba, Joel Kimuli and Asuman Mugerwa.

Kobs badly need a win against Heathens to make another memorable Premiership turn around in the history of Ugandan Rugby because they are currently second separated from Heathens by five points.

It implies that if Kobs win a bonus point, they will have equal points with Heathens at the top with one match to go. Kobs will need to beat Ezee Money Rhinos hoping Heathens lose against Toyota Buffaloes.

If both sides win their last games with or without bonus points, the league shall have ended with both sides in points draw. The Rugby Union will crown the team with the most number of wins or bonus points as champions.

Kobs currently have 9 wins while Heathens have 10 wins. If they are equal in the wins and bonus points, the Union may proceed to tries scored or the difference between match points “for” and match points “against”. The side with a bigger difference shall be placed higher in the Premiership than a Club with a smaller difference.

Heathens have gone 7 premiership matches unbeaten.

Kobs are unbeaten at home (Legends Rugby Grounds) this season.

Heathens edged Kobs in their first half of the season encounter 11-10.

Heathens lost last seasons unbeaten run at the hands of Kobs who defeated them 19-11 at Legends Rugby Grounds.

Kobs beat Heathens 13-14 at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds in the second half of last season, inflicting the greatest pain to the players and fans who had last witnessed a loss at home four years ago.
