Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) has been unanimously voted Stephen Kiprotich as the Nile Special best sports personality of the month of February.

The USPA members convened at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala for the monthly sports meeting.

Kiprotich took the award without any vote as the members agreed in unison acknowledging the effort by the long distance runner at the 2015 Tokyo Marathon.

The members have agreed in unison to reward Kiprotich for his effort for his tremendous record improvement

 Kiprotich finished second in 2:6:33 hours behind winner, Ethiopia’s Endeshaw Negesse.

Before the race, the Ugandan hero Kiprotich started the race on a low note after the death of his baby daughter Elizabeth who passed away from a respiratory illness in January.

The 25-year-old however put the emotions behind him to run 2:06:033 improving his personal best he had set at 2:07:20.

In August, he is set to defend his gold at the World Athletics Championships at the Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing,China.

Vision group’s Norman Katende passed the motion of nomination seconded by Top Media group’s Peter Tabu.

USPA commended two national cross country winners, Juliet Chekwel and Phillip Kiplimo , Moto cross guru, Maxim Van Pee as well as Netball ace, Peace Proscovia for her exceptional performances for her British club, Lightening Loughborough, who she won two player of the match awards for her English team.
