Kampala Club’s trio of Michael Kawooya, Ian Rukunya and Paul Kasoma returned this week victorious after claiming the East Africa Inter Clubs squash championships in Mombasa, Kenya.
Kawooya, who is the country’s top squash player beat Kenya’s Leon Keya 3-0 in the fimals of the tournament as he lead his side to an emphatic victory in Mombasa, Kenya last week.
Enroute to their win the Ugandans played like in the quarter finals Kawooya captain of Uganda beat Ali Rehmtulla from Dar es Salaam Gym Khana 3-0, scores 11-8 , 11-4 , 11-3 , Ian Rukunya beat Marwa Busigara from Dar es Salaam Gym Khana Club 3-0 games scores 11-8 , 11-2 , 11-8.
While Paul Kadoma dispatched Jackson Nehemia 3-0 games from Dar es Salaam Gym Khana Club. The tournament that is held annually attracted Clubs from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
Kipepeo Club from Mombasa, Kenya was runner-up followed by the Mombasa Sport Club, the host club who finished third.
