Africa Handball Championships: Selected Results for Uganda Teams
Tuesday, 10th March, 2015:
Ethiopia 23 – 28 Uganda (women), Uganda 19 – 24 Kenya (men)
Wednesday, 11th March 2015:
Kenya 27 – 23 Uganda (women), Uganda 39 – 22 Rwanda (men)
Uganda’s representatives at the on-going Africa Zone 5 Hand Ball championships have so far registered unconvincing results.
After two games played for each of the teams, Uganda women team has won one game (23-28 victory over Ethiopia on the opening day) and lost the other (23-27 over nemesis, Kenya).
The men have now lost their opening two games of the campaign.
Uganda opened to a 19-24 loss at the hands of Kenya on day one before avenging to Rwanda in the second outing, 39-22.
The chances of making it to the All Africa games lie on a thin thread unless we win all the remaining games
Carl Mugalu, an administrator with Uganda Handball Federation confesses.
In the men’s category, Uganda has 2 points from 2 games, Kenya 2 points in 1 game and Rwanda with no point in 1 game.
The mathematics Involved:
There is mathematics and luck needed for the Ugandan teams to have at least the chances of making it.
Uganda will pray that Rwanda overcomes Kenya in a game scheduled for Thursday.
In the women’s category, its the same story as Uganda has 2 points in 2 games with Kenya and Ethiopia lieing 2nd and 3rd respectively.
If Ethiopia beats Kenya then Uganda shall be back in contention.
