Altona swim club and foundation that was formed last year is seeking for higher ground in Ugandan swimming and also in various sports disciplines in the country.
“We have 36 sports disciplines in our profile that we hope to promote both at learning and competitive level in all the groups that we have,” Erick Kisero, one of the founders of Altona foundation which incorporates the swim club said. “Currently swimming is all but we are working hard on the other sports that we incorporate.”
Altona swim club Uganda is number three out of 42 swimming clubs in Uganda. Some of the notable swimmers for the Centenary park based club include Amos Baka, Rachel Galinda, Latif Kajumbi, Olivia Naluwada, Esther Nadunga, Shamina Kulabako and Abba Mayanja(son of music star Jose Chameleone).
The club has a total of 22 swimmers that is both Male and Female however the foundation that they are under has sports disciplines like Table Tennis, Woodball, Tennis just to mention.
The swim club has been getting technical assistance from Uganda Swimming Federation Vice President Administration Peter Mugisha.
