It needed a letter from International Netball Federation (INF) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Claire Briegal for Uganda’s World Cup status to stay intact.

On May 21, Briegal wrote to the Uganda Netball Federation threatening to disqualify Uganda from the August 2015 World Cup in Sydney.

Uganda had failed to pay fees US$12035 (about Shs35m) due April 30 for accommodation, preliminary team entry which is incomplete yet the deadline was May 7.

But on Friday May 22, government released Shs250m to clear the immediate pending bills and help in the team’s participation.

“We have cleared with the world cup organizers, but the question now is how soon we will get the remaining moneys? Because the preparation of the girls is also wanting,” said UNF general president Susan Anek said.

“We are expecting more money from government but we don’t know how much, Shs250m is little because our budget is Shs1.8b.”

Before the world cup, the team also plans to take part in the Diamond Challenge in South Africa then latter Namibia between June and July.
