Bloemfontein Celtic newly acquired striker, Geoffrey Massa is facing a torrid time against regaining full fitness after missing Thursday’s training session at Lugogo due to a painful neck and a bout of malaria.
Massa was not part of training on the fourth day of the national team’s preparation for Gambia and Botswana international games next week.
Massa took a rest from training after complaining of a painful neck and about of malaria. We expect him back as soon as possible
Chrispus Muyinda, the team co-ordinator told Kawowo Sports.
The Thursday training at Lugogo stadium was interpreted by a heavy rain storm after the team had trained for an hour.
Massa’s injury is a big scare for the team since he remains the most senior player on the current Cranes side.
Though Mamelodi Sun Downs goal keeper, Denis Onyango has been around the for the past training sessions, he has not been actively involved in the physical training sessions.
Other senior players, Tonny Mawejje, Andew Mwesigwa, Moses Oloya, Geofrey Baba Kizito, Emmanuel Okwi, Daniel Muzei Sserunkuma have all been sidelined for different reasons.
Micho names the final team on Friday ahead of the residential camp that starts over the weekend.
Uganda plays Gambia in the international friendly game next week before hosting Botswana in the first group D AFCON 2017 qualifier.
Both games will be played at Nelson Mandel national stadium, Namboole.
