For the last six years, SC Villa have never celebrated winning the Uganda Cup having last won the trophy in 2009.

On the day, SC Villa who were underdogs faced URA FC who had just been crowned league champions after a dramatic draw with KCC FC thanks to a last gasp minute equalizer from defender Sam Mubiru at Namboole.

SC Villa scored through Andrew Nkurunungi and substitute Geoffrey Ssentongo whose fierce low shot sent the Blue army in the stands into frenzy.

Robert Odongkara (GK): Currently at St. George in Ethiopia, Odongkara was in goal for the finals. Before the finals, he was second choice in pecking order behind Yasin Mugabi but the latter’s howlers in the league game against KCC FC which allowed Anthony Bongoole to score a screamer saw him relegated to the bench.

Simeon Masaba (Right Back): The current URA FC right back was arguably the most experience player on the SC Villa team. He played at right back against his former employers today.

Godfrey Walusimbi (Left Back): Famously known as ‘Jjajja Walu,” the youngster played at left back and was so impressive on the day. He currently plies his trade with Kenya Premier League back to back champions Gor Mahia.

Tonny Ndolo (Centre Back): The Kenyan born Ndolo started at centre back. He was the team captain and currently features for Sofapaka in the Kenya Premier League.

Asuman Alishe (Centre Back): He partnered Ndolo at the centre back as the two kept the URA striking force at bay. Last seen at Vipers at the start of the campaign. His whereabouts now are unknown.

Oscar Agaba (Defensive Midfield): The young Oscar Agaba had scored the winner against Express FC in the run in to the finals and played the anchorman’s role on the day.

He currently features for URA FC.

Feni Ali Moses (Attacking Midfield): He is also currently playing at URA FC. He started on the day as the attacking midfielder playing behind the two centre forwards.

Chrizestom Ntambi (Right Wing): He is one of the few players who are still playing at the club now. However, he has however not consistently been at Villa Park. He moved to Express FC and also had stints in Vietnam before returning to SC Villa at the start of the campaign.

Steven Bengo (Left Wing): Another player with a chance to win the Cup again with SC Villa. Bengo has been a nomad since then going to Simba in Tanzania, URA FC and KCC FC but moved to Villa Park at the start of the season.

Emma Okwi (striker): He started upfront on the day and was the club’s leading marksman. Okwi currently plies his trade with Simba in Tanzania.

Andrew Nkurunungi (Striker): He opened the scoring on the day with a brilliant header off Simeon Masaba cross. He is believed to be in USA at the moment.

Others on the team:

Yasin Mugabi (GK) – He is currently playing for rivals KCC FC. He was on the bench on the day.

Geoffrey Ssentongo (Midfielder) – He came off the bench to score the winner. Last sighted at Simba SC at the start of the 2014/15 season.

Isaac Muleme, Isaac Kirabira, Jjuuko Yusuf among others were on the bench.

Coach: Sula Kato: He led the team to the last trophy and his whereabouts are known at the moment. He was however sighted on the Soana technical bench towards the end of last premier league’s campaign.
