Referee Tinashe Kamwenje has been lined up to officiate Elgon Cup the match between Kenya “A” Rugby team and the Uganda Rugby Cranes in the 2015 Elgon Cup on Saturday.
The World Rugby Level 2 certificate holder will be in charge of the match at the Rugby Football Union of East Africa (RFUEA) Grounds as Uganda Rugby Cranes seek revenge following last year’s loss at the same grounds.
The Zimbabwean will be assisted by Moses Ndung’u and Emmanuel Marete as Uganda Rugby Cranes seek revenge against Kenya “A” that humiliated them 34-0 to win the cup on 48-21 aggregate score.
The Cranes took to Kenya a 21-14 advantage courtesy of Kevin Makmot and Bishop Onen’s brilliance but the side could not halt Kenya’s run for a second successive cup at home.
Kamwenje, the official who will blow the first and final will be turning 29 years old according to ragahouse.com on the match day and the coincidence will also crown him nine years as a referee.
The 28-year old has previously officiated at the 2013 Safari Sevens in Nairobi and the 2014 Africa Cup Women’s Sevens in Machakos.
