Malakia (South Sudan) Vs KCC FC (Uganda) – National stadium, Dar es Salaam @ 2pm

KCC FC and Malakia are nearly through to the last eight thanks to results in group B going in their favour but they will have much to fight for when they meet on Saturday in their last group game.

LLB’s defeat at the hands of APR coupled with Al Shandy’s win over Heegan mean that either of KCC FC or Malakia will at worst finish as the third best team from all groups with four teams but that will also depend on Adama City failing to beat Azam (winning margin important).

Heading into their final group fixtures, either side still has an opportunity of finishing top or second in the group.

Victory for either coupled with Adama City’s victory of current group C leaders Azam (depending on the margin) may see them snatch top spot in the group.

Goalie Emmanuel Opio has already called on his team mates to improve starting with the game against the South Sudan side after a narrow victory over Adama City.

“Winning this game is a bit of relief but we are not where we want to be,” Opio told Kawowo Sports. “When you look at the performance on the day, it calls for a lot of improvement right from the back to the front,” he added.

Ugandan striker Samuel Kayongo Ssekamatte who turns out for Malakia said the side is ready for the challenge against KCC FC which he described as tough test.

“We are determined for any challenge. The boys have moved on from that loss to Azam and working out to see we put up our best in a tough test against KCC FC,” he added.

Going for victory:

Only a shock victory for Adama City against Azam will deny the Ugandans and South Sudanese a slot in the last eight but KCC FC will be going for victory and nothing less.

“We can’t relax and must beat Malakia since we have destiny in our hands,” said Sam Ssimbwa.

KCC Team News

The Kasasiro Boys are sweating over the fitness of lead striker Derrick Nsibambi who is arguably out of the game and it is feared he may miss the entire tournament.

There are also doubts over skipper Tom Masiko and Muzamir Mutyaba who have played through pain since the tournament started.

Changes in the lineup:

Against Adama City, the technical staff made five changes and the trend is expected to continue against Malakia.

The match provides an opportunity for players who are yet to play at the tournament to get their first game.

New signings Isaac Sserunkuma, Farouk Matovu plus Owen Kasule are all expected in the starting lineup.

Meanwhile, home team Azam FC take on Adama City in the late kick off at the same venue.

KCC FC Probable XI:

Emmanuel Opio (GK), Denis Okot, Habib Kavuma, Farouk Matovu, Martin Mpuuga, Hakim Ssenkumba, Ivan Ntege, Owen Kasule, Tom Masiko, Isaac Sserunkuma and Joseph Ochaya.
