Uganda Vs Wales 10:20am (Ugandan time)

Going into the last game of the preliminary round on Monday, the She Cranes will once again enter the fixture as underdogs – atleast going by the current netball rankings.

Fourteenth ranked Uganda take on eighth ranked Wales in the second last game of Game Day 4 at the AllPhones Arena.

However, the rankings probably don’t matter a lot as the She Cranes dispatched seventh ranked Fiji 60-41 on Saturday.

Both teams go into the fixture with perfect records having won their opening two Pool D games. Wales have beaten Fiji 59-52 and Zambia 71-44 while Uganda beat Zambia 74-38 on the tournament opening day before the Saturday win over Fiji.

Wales used the height advantage and pace to dominate Zambia and will be looking to use the height edge to beat Uganda.

Wales’ go to shooters Chelsea Lewis (188cm) and Georgia Rowe (196cm) will be looking to impose their height superiority on She Cranes’ defenders Florence Nanyonga (173 cm), Betty Namukasa (170cm) and Alice Nanteza (170cm).  The trio will have to do a lot of interceptions and deflections on the passes to Wales’ shooting pair.

Uganda has relied on strong starts to games and head coach Rashid Mubiru will be hoping the ladies get off a similar start with Ruth Meme getting those smart solid deliveries to Peace Proscovia and Racheal Nanyonga in the early going.

In other fixtures, Zambia and Fiji will face off both in search of the first win at the tournament having lost their opening couple of games.

South Africa will take on minnows Sri Lanka while Scotland faces Jamaica with both teams chasing qualification into the last eight.

Other Day 4 Fixtures (All Ugandan Time)
