SC Villa earned their first point of the season at the second time of asking after drawing 1-1 with URA FC at Nakivubo stadium.

Robert Achema scored for the hosts while Yayo Lutimba leveled matters for the visitors in what was an entertaining fixture.

The record league champions started well and should have gotten ahead in the opening ten minutes but missed chances through Martin Kizza and John Adriko.

URA FC goalie Brian Bwete who was having an average day nearly conceded from Achema and Tadeo Lwanga shots but was just fortunate not to pick the ball behind his net.

However, his luck didn’t last past the 25 minute as he failed to save from Achema’s free kick after Martin Kizza was fouled down the left flank.

The lead didn’t last long as Yayo Lutimba scored for URA FC six minutes late with goalie Steven Odong the culprit for failure to save what appeared as an easy ball towards his goal.

There was no change to the score line by half time although URA FC appeared to be on top of the game before recess.

URA FC Coach Moses Basena made an immediate change after the break replacing Saidi Kyeyune with Patrick Ochan.

The tax men bossed possession but remained lethargic in front of goal and the record league champions responded by bringing on Umar Kasumba for John Adriko.

Later, URA FC brought on Peter Lwasa and exciting midfielder Shafik Kagimu while Villa replaced Godfrey Lwesibawa with Ambrose Kirya and Isaac Muleme came on Tadeo Lwanga.

At this moment, either side had a good opportunity to win it but Umar Kasumba missed for the hosts with Bwete in goal beaten while Kalanda shot easily at Odong when played on by Lwasa.

The score line remained similar at the final whistle and with a point, URA move to second on the log with four points while SC Villa are 9th with a single point.

REACTIONS:

SC Villa Coach Antonio Flores:

It was an improved performance from the loss to Bright Stars but we must improve. It’s still work in progress though

URA FC Coach Moses Basena:

I think we could have won the game but were poor in the final third. Nevertheless, am happy with the performance of the boys. You can see we lacked experience up front. Villa (Oromchan) is still young; fresh from Big League but getting a point against a direct competitor, I take it.
