In the wake of Umar Semata’s unbelievable loss to Piotr Lagodzki in the WKF Intercontinental Welterweight fight, kick boxer Ronald Mugula blames loss on ‘curse’ and ‘extravagant’ promoter Alice Namatovu.

In an interview with Kawowo Sports, Mugula; recent holder of the title before being defeated by Egyptian Abdallah Hussein who Semata later beat in May last year said he felt sorry for Semata and Ugandans in general.

“It’s painful losing a belt and as a Ugandan, am disappointed,” he stated.

In the most dramatic and unbelievable fashion, Semata lost sight heading into the final round and wobbled in the ring before doctors and his team declared he was unable to carry on.

“Losing a fight in such manner is something unbelievable,” said Mugula before associating the loss to curses of the fight promoter “But it’s the promoter whose curses haunted Semata and I warned him.”

Previously, Mugula was part of the Lash Media owned by Namatovu but said he quit because of two reasons; extravagance and being cursed.

That woman is cursed and besides, he is extravagant and wants expensive things yet she can’t afford them. For instance, why would she bring fighters from South Africa, Zimbabwe and Morocco yet it’s not Ugandans are interested in.

Mugula also went on to reveal that at one time, he got sponsorship worth Ugx. 70 million and Rwenzori for some years but Namatovu proposed staging an event that accommodated over eight fighters in Semata, Joe Vegas Lubega, Sande Siiko and I among others which I refused and eventually parted ways since all these fighters were to fight against foreign opponents which was expensive.

“We disagreed but she went on and organized the event and she ended up in losses as the companies didn’t release the money since I was out. When I told her that was expensive, she said all she cared was making Lash Media a brand” he said.

In conclusion, Mugula said he is ready to challenge for the belt and bring it back home although Namatovu must not be part of any arrangement.

“Am ready to fight for that belt but only if Lash Media isn’t part of the organisers.”
