Lillian Zawedde’s participation in several international tournaments in Asia puts her in the pole position for top honours at the on-going China International Open.

Zawedde, the reigning Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) player of the year traveled with another Ndejje University team-mate, Joel Adupa to represent Uganda at the China Open International Woodball Championship in Sanya City.

This is Zawedde’s 4th International outing this year after competing in Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia earlier on.

Adupa’s last international outing was in Malaysia in 2014 for the 4th World University Woodball Championship 2014 where he won a bronze in fairway competition.

Zawedde and Adupa were part of Team Uganda that competed at the 6th World Cup Woodball Championship 2014 in Sanya, China. They return to the same venue where the ladies and men teams finished 5th and 8th respectively in the last edition of China Open.

Zawedde Lillian is confident to better her performance at the International level after bagging 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze at the just concluded 7th Uganda Woodball Open 2015. Adupa won 1 Silver, 1 bronze at the same event.

Zawedde informed competitors before the start of last weekend’s 7th Uganda Woodball Open at St. Joseph’s Technical Institute Kisubi.

I am here to play my best so as not to disappoint my sponsor. I am moving out this week to China.

The duo were sponsored by Ndejje University, Uganda Woodball Federation and the participants themselves.

Last year, Uganda picked no medal from the China International Woodball Open where they had close to 15 participants.

Only, Entebbe Woodball Club’s Flavia Navubya managed to progress through to the finals after a tight contest with Thailand’s Pornpimon Buaklang.

Meanwhile, the 5th Corporate Woodball Circuit will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Kisubi Beach.
