Uganda Chess Federation has now ascended two slots to 102nd on the global chess rankings, 9th on the African continent.
The latest rankings released by World Chess Federation (FIDE), the parent body governing chess in the world saw Kenya playing second fiddle to Uganda in the region. Kenya is 15th on the continent and 120th in the World.
Rwanda is 30th on the continent and 162nd in the World. Burundi closely follows in 163rd placing (31st on African scene) as Tanzania is 165th and 33rd in the World and Africa respectively.
In the continental Zone 4.2, where East Africa also falls, Egypt carries the mantle in the 46th place having bettered a slot than in October and Algeria is Algeria (70).
Other African big weights are Tunisia (75) and Morocco on 78th.
Uganda Chess Federation is eager to bettering the ranking with more increased participation in international FIDE rated tournaments.
